Crazy to think 15 years ago today we lost a talented and beautiful young lady! Aaliyah was just on the brink of stardom, just dropping her 3rd studio album ‘Aaliyah’ and working on movies. And while shooting the video for ‘Rock The Boat’, the plane carrying Aaliyah and her crew goes down in the Bahamas.

I remember the night I found out. It was my first month at Grambling State University, my roommate at the time walked in drunk, screaming she’s gone! I wake up like what are you talking about, he said “Aaliyah is gone man!” I turn on the TV and there it was, “Singer Aaliyah Dead!” I literally broke down. It was like we grew up together. I remember when Back & Forth dropped in junior high.

Today is a sad day, but we need to remember Aaliyah for all the moments that made us smile and the happiness that her music brought us.

RIP Baby girl. You are truly missed!
